Titans Team Up with Southeast United Dairy Industry Association

The Titans host luncheon to spread NFL's "Fuel up to Play 60" message and fight child obesity.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Tennessee Titans teamed up with the Southeast United Dairy Industry Association on Wednesday to host a luncheon at LP Field for the Tennessee Obesity Task Force in support of the NFL’s “Fuel Up to Play 60” program.

The “NFL Play 60” campaign is designed to tackle childhood obesity by getting kids active through in-school, afterschool and team-based programs.  The Southeast Dairy Association and the Titans work together to help make wellness part of the game plan in Tennessee schools.  The program encourages schools to make healthy changes in students’ eating habits and physical activity.

In addition, Southeast United Dairy partners with the Tennessee Obesity Task Force and it is their mission to reduce the burden of obesity in Tennessee, focusing on interventions and preventing diseases rather than treating them.  Its goal is to help provide education on nutrition and a physical activity plan to reduce obesity and chronic disease.

Titans Director of Marketing Brad McClanahan welcomed Southeast United Dairy and the Tennessee Obesity Task Force, thanking them for the relationship and the opportunity to support the Play 60 initiative.

“The Titans are proud to be a part of this Fuel Up to Play 60 kickoff in association with our partners at the Southeast United Dairy Industry Association,” McClanahan said. “For over 10 years, we’ve partnered with SUDIA to make Tennessee school-aged children healthier and this event only helps to further that initiative.”

Titans Community Relations Director Tina Tuggle addressed the group on the important of the NFL’s Play 60 campaign and the positive impact the program has made in local schools and the community.

“It is our privilege to partner with SUDIA and the TN Obesity Task Force for the Fuel Up to Play 60 campaign,” Tuggle said. “Through this joint initiative, we are delighted to provide students the tools necessary in understanding, developing and implementing a healthy lifestyle.”

“Healthy students are better students and that is what Fuel Up to Play 60 is all about,” said Laura Marbury, MS, RD, LD Nutrition Affairs Program Manager with the Southeast United Dairy Industry Association.  “The program, which was launched by the National Dairy Council and the NFL, is focused on getting students to ‘fuel up’ with nutrient-rich like low-fat and fat-free milk, fruits, vegetables, and whole grains and to ‘get up and play’ for 60 minutes a day.  We have partnered with the Tennessee Obesity Task Force to raise community awareness, support and involvement in the program.”

Whether you are a parent, educator or friend, you can have a positive influence and make a difference in a child’s life by encouraging them to go outside and play for 60 minutes a day.
