JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Tennessee Titans today waived offensive lineman
With running back
"Jamie is a little nicked up and we needed a third back," Titans GM Ruston Webster said. "He's a power guy, runs well inside and has good vision. He's looked good in practice this week, so we're looking forward to seeing him a little bit….He knows all of his stuff and he's ready to go."
Webster said Evans would play on special teams and "we'll see where it goes from there."
The overall health of Tennessee's roster is better than it's been "in quite a while," Webster said.
"We're a little nicked up in a couple of spots, but other than that we're much better than we have been," Webster said. "We've got guys that over time had some injuries that lingered for several weeks but are getting back to their old selves now, so that's a good thing."
The Titans signed Evans to their practice squad on Sept. 3. He originally signed as an undrafted free agent last year with the Indianapolis Colts out of Virginia Tech. He split time last year between the Colts' active roster and practice squad.
Evans totaled 2,119 rushing yards and 22 touchdowns during his time at Virginia Tech.
