Biography

PRO: Ryan Mouton is a quick cornerback that possesses excellent leaping ability and above average strength.  He has the talent to challenge pass catchers on the outside, as well as the technique and speed necessary to defend receivers in the slot.  Mouton returns to the field after missing the entire 2011 season because of an Achilles injury suffered in training camp and looks to provide versatility in the defensive backfield.

CAREER HIGHLIGHTS:
• In 2010, saw action in nine games and ranked fourth on the team with 10 special teams stops.
• Appeared in 14 games with two starts at cornerback as a rookie and registered 17 tackles, including a tackle for loss, and nine special teams stops.

TITANS TIDBITS: 
• In June 2010, Mouton teamed with 49ers center Eric Heitman to put on the first annual Katy (Texas) Athletic Booster Golf Scramble.  Proceeds from the event went to support facilities and equipment for their former high school.
• Mouton got acclimated to Hawaiian island life by taking Samoan classes while in school.
• Mouton is a good friend of former Hawaii and current Miami Dolphins wide receiver Davone Bess.  They were roommates during Mouton’s junior season at Hawaii.
• Mouton’s family has strong ties to the ministry: his grandfather, Roland, Sr., his father, Ronald, and his father’s twin brother, Roland, Jr., all are local pastors.  Mouton has an interest in following in their footsteps after his playing career.
• While in college, Mouton worked at Hawaii Speed and Quickness, a local strength and training outfit that works with young athletes.

CAREER TRANSACTIONS:
• The Houston, Texas, native was selected by the Titans in the third round (94th overall) of the 2009 NFL Draft.

COLLEGE:
• As a senior (2008), named to All-WAC first team as a cornerback.  Started all 13 games - eight at cornerback, three at free safety and two as a wide receiver.  Notched 43 tackles, including six tackles for loss, an interception and eight pass breakups.  Totaled eight receptions for 71 yards as a receiver.  Also excelled as a kickoff returner with 24 returns for 514 yards and a touchdown.
• As a junior (2007), appeared in 11 games as backup cornerback and first-string nickel back.  Amassed 26 total tackles, including three tackles for loss, two interceptions and seven pass breakups.  Also saw time at kickoff returner and averaged 29.6 yards on 14 kickoffs, which ranked fifth nationally.  Returned a kickoff 90 yards for a score against Charleston Southern.
• As a sophomore (2006), attended Blinn College in Brenham, Texas and was named a first-team NJCAA All-American.  Was voted team’s most outstanding defensive player and helped Blinn to a perfect 12-0 record and the JC Gridwire 2006 National Championship by recording five interceptions and returning two of those for touchdowns.  Also returned two kickoffs for touchdowns.
• As a freshman (2005), played in 10 games with two starts during his initial season at Blinn Junior College and registered four interceptions.
• Majored in sociology at Hawaii.

PERSONAL: 
• Single, splits time between Nashville and Houston, Texas.
• Attended Katy High School in Texas and led the team to the Texas 5A Division II championship.  Starred on both sides of the ball as a wide receiver and cornerback in Katy’s championship season and was an all-area selection, all-state selection and Texas Top 100 pick as a senior.
• Also lettered in track and field, running the 100-meter dash.
