Biography

PRO: The Titans targeted unrestricted free agent defensive end Al Woods  early in the 2014 offseason to help fulfill the team’s commitment to get larger on the defensive front.  The 6-foot-4-inch, 307-pounder has the ability to play all three spots on the defensive line, which adds to his value.  Woods entered the NFL as a fourth-round selection by the New Orleans Saints.  He has also spent time with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Seattle Seahawks and most recently the Pittsburgh Steelers, where he appeared in 28 games from 2012-2013.

CAREER HIGHLIGHTS:
•    In 2013, Woods saw action in all 16 games for the first time in his career and notched 20 tackles, two sacks and a pass defensed with the Steelers.

•      Woods likes to fish and hunt deer and owns a farm with about 300 head of cattle and 90 horses in Elton, La.

COLLEGE:
•    Appeared in 41 games with 15 starts at Louisiana State and posted 73 tackles, 3.5 sacks and eight tackles for loss.
•    As a senior (2009), started all 13 games recording 33 tackles and one sack.  Also blocked a field goal that was returned for a touchdown.
•    As a junior (2008), played in 10 contests with two starts totaling 11 tackles.
•    Was a key contributor as a sophomore on LSU’s National Championship squad, appearing in 12 games with one start and recording 22 tackles and two sacks.
•    As a freshman (2006), appeared in six games, including the Sugar Bowl, and was credited with seven tackles and a sack.
•    Majored in general studies with concentrations in African-American studies, communications studies and sports studies at Louisiana State.

•    Attended Elton High School (Elton, La.) and received first-team All-State and All-District honors during his final two seasons.
•    Posted 100 tackles as a senior and junior.  Also played on the offensive line as a senior.
