PRO: The Titans claimed cornerback Brandon Harris off waivers from the Houston Texans prior to the start of the 2014 regular season.  The 5-foot-10-inch, 189-pounder is a veteran defensive back that has seen a majority of his NFL action in nickel packages.  Prior to arriving in Tennessee, the former Miami (Fla.) product was orginally drafted by the Texans in the second round of the 2011 NFL Draft and spent three seasons with the club.

CAREER HIGHLIGHTS:
•    In 2013, Harris saw action in all 16 games and tallied career-highs with 20 tackles and four passes defensed.

•    Harris’ father, Tim, was named USA Today National Coach of the Year in 2007 at Miami’s Booker T. Washington High School.  He was also Texans wide receiver Andre Johnson’s high school offensive coordinator at Miami Sr. High.

CAREER TRANSACTIONS:  
•    The Miami, Fla., native was orginally selected by the Houston Texans in the second round (60th overall) of the 2011 NFL Draft.
•    Waived by the Texans on Aug. 30, 2014.
•    Claimed by the Titans off waivers from the Texans on Aug. 31, 2014.   

COLLEGE:
•    Attended Miami (Fla.) and started 32 of 39 games, recording 132 tackles, nine tackles for loss, four interceptions, five forced fumbles, two sacks and 28 passes defensed.
•     Named a semifinalist for the Jim Thorpe Award (nation’s top defensive back) for the second consecutive year as a junior after starting all 13 games, recording 44 tackles and a team-high 10 passes defensed en route to a second-team All-ACC selection.
•     In 2009, started all 13 games and ranked third on the team with 58 tackles, including one sack for five yards and six stops for losses for 12 yards; gained 10 yards on two interceptions, caused three fumbles and returned two kickoffs for 63 yards.  Led the ACC and ranked second nationally with 1.3 passes defended per contest as a sophomore.
•     Tied for second nationally in pass breakups (15) and third in passes defended (17), earning him All-American and first-team All-ACC honors.
•     Saw action in all 13 games and started six contests at left cornerback his freshman year, finishing eighth on the team with 30 tackles, including one sack for seven yards and two stops for losses totaling 11 yards and deflected three pass attempts and intercepted another, gaining 25 yards on the return.
•     Earned Academic All-ACC honors in his first season.

PERSONAL:  
•    Attended Booker T. Washington High School in Miami, where he played for his father, Tim Harris.
•     As a senior, named Florida’s Gatorade Player of the Year, Dade County’s 6A-4A Defensive Player of the Year and the Miami Herald’s Miami-Dade County Male Athlete of the Year.
•     Added All-American honors by Prep Star and EA Sports, and was listed as a member of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution Super Southern 100 team.
•     In 2007, the Booker T. Washington Tornadoes turned in a perfect 14-0 record and claimed the Florida Class-4A state championship title while finishing sixth in USA Today’s final national rankings.
