Marv Sunderland

Biography

Marv Sunderland enters his seventh season with the Titans and his 37th year in the NFL in 2014. He is responsible for scouting the western region of the United States for the Titans.

Sunderland came to Tennessee after his second stint with the New York Jets, where he scouted the Northern United States for two seasons. From 1998-2002, Sunderland was the Director of Player Personnel for the New York Giants and aided a team that reached Super Bowl XXXV in 2000. He spent 20 years (1979-98) with the Jets as a scout after serving three seasons (1976-78) with the New England Patriots as a personnel assistant.

Before coming to the NFL, Sunderland was an assistant coach for North Dakota State for five seasons, including an undefeated season in 1970.

As a player, he was a three-time All-Conference fullback at Northern Montana before trying out for the New Orleans Saints in 1967 and signing with the Calgary Stampeders in 1968.

Married to Charlotte, he has one son, Brock, a scout with the New York Jets; a stepson, Brock, who works for Montana State Police; and a daughter, Shay, and son-in-law who live in the Netherlands.
